An escape room is one of the best birthday ideas for children aged 6 and up: instead of just sitting around, kids become a team of detectives or wizards and embark on a real adventure. It's active, memorable, and — unlike a trampoline — works even with 12-year-olds.
Many venues in Dublin offer a special birthday package: a private escape room for the group, a decorated room for cake and gifts before or after the game, and discounts for large groups. Most rooms accommodate 2–6 children at a time — for a large guest list, ask about two parallel escape rooms or splitting into teams.
Choose a room based on age and theme: magic and treasure hunt escape rooms are a surefire hit, while older kids enjoy a light detective theme. Let the host know it's a birthday — they will adjust the clues so every child leaves a winner. Book in advance: daytime slots on weekends are the first to go.
